Owners of Piedmont Education Services

Piedmont Education Services was founded by Greg and Bonnie Munger in 1987 to better serve private schools and homeschooling families throughout NC and southern Virginia, expanding in 2002 to offer our educational products and services nationwide. In 2006, we expanded to include information, products, and services for families concerned about their health, their home, and the culture.

Greg holds a B.S. in Education from the School of Education at Bob Jones University; Bonnie holds a B.S. in Home Economics, also from Bob Jones University. Greg taught for five years in a traditional classroom, on both the Elementary and Secondary levels. In 1987, the Mungers began homeschooling, continuing for 14 years and eventually graduating all four of their children from their homeschool, Charis Academy. All four children have gone on to succeed in college, business, and family life. Their two sons have now returned to work in the family business.

Greg has also served in various homeschool leadership positions in NC including six years as president of his local support group, Forsyth Home Educators, while simultaneously serving as the Administrative Vice President for the statewide organization North Carolinians for Home Education. He also assisted for eight years as the Assistant to the Director for the NCHE Conference and Book Fair held annually in Winston-Salem, NC.

Greg has delivered numerous conference seminars on a variety of topics of interest to educators, even turning the subject of Home Schooling through High School into a book. In the past twenty years, both Greg and Bonnie have administered the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills and the Woodcock-Johnson III Tests of Achievement to thousands of children all across North Carolina and southern Virginia. Additionally, Greg provides educational consultations and custom curriculum development based on personal assessment and learning style.

Mr. Dana Forbes, who is supervisor of all the Kaufman testing and will be administering the test to your students, is highly qualified with an M.A. in Educational Leadership through Mesa State College, Colorado. Graduate level courses in "Best Practices in Curriculum and Assessment" and training in administering the CSAP, Colorado's statewide assessment and the SAT for high school juniors, as well as teaching experience in public and private schools has prepared him for a variety of test administration duties. Dana is certified as both teacher and principal in Colorado by the Colorado Department of Education, and as a Career Teacher in Missouri by that State's Board of Education. He is also a member of Christian Educator's of America. Mr. Forbes has had over twenty years experience as a teacher and principal in Christian and public schools and in age levels from five to eighteen. He and his wife decided to homeschool their three boys from their earliest years. Their oldest son homeschooled K-12 and went on to graduate from Patrick Henry University and is now writing novels and helping produce films. The second son had all but one year in homeschooling and is presently attending Colorado School of Mines to earn a degree in Civil Engineering. The youngest boy homeschooled all but two years and began attending Mesa State College this fall. The Forbes are presently home schooling their twin nine year old girls. Dana believes homeschooling is the best possible educational option for parents to pursue, since the child is afforded individual attention and may proceed at his or her own pace, programs can be custom tailored to the child, values important to the family are much easier to impart and for the child to retain, and consistency is maintained as the schedule works for the family and the child.
